Conn Elkhart French Horn Serial Numbers

So it could have tapered valves and say Elkhart, but be assembled by someone on their first day at the plant in Texas and play like ass. It could play wonderfully. Texas is rubbish and Elkhart is incredible is exaggeration.

The valve tapering is a big issue, and the Texas horns generally don't play as well, but they aren't worthless. They're still good horns, just not the pro-level greatness that Conn made for so many years. With an earlier letter or preletter, you are basically guaranteed that it will play well.
